Chelsea are closing in on a deal for Arsenal's 'fabulous' Olivier Giroud. The deal is worth around 15 million pounds + add ons, and depends on whether or not Arsenal can bring in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for 55 million pounds, which is very likely according to Sky Italia's Di Marzio.

Aubameyang to Arsenal is nearing completion, but Borussia Dortmund are stalling over fears that they won't be able to replace the Gabon striker in the last few days of January, with taking Batshuayi on loan being their preferred short term replacement.

Giroud (31) has joined the seemingly endless list of 6 foot + strikers who have been linked with Chelsea this january, joining the likes of Andy Caroll, Peter Crouch, Edin Dzeko and Salomon Rondon. But with Conte insisting that Chelsea will require a third number 9 for them to stand any chance of silverware this season, Chelsea will be reluctant to let Michy Batshuayi leave on loan in order to get this deal through.
